The Activity centre in St Luke's Hospital, Rathgar was set up in to provide support and rehab in support of patients. The variety of activities being offered by the centre include different forms of painting. The staff at the centre aim to promote a relaxed atmosphere where patients can find fun, conversation, stimulation space and peace for themselves. Displaying patients art forms an important part of their therapy and a number of the centre's group projects have been put on display in the hospital.
SILK WALL HANGING The inspiration for the large poppy silk wall-hanging above came from wild poppy flowers painted by the patients. The vivid colour and delicacy of the poppies were an inspiration to the patients, who designed and painted the hanging as a group project. The silks used are Jap silks otherwise known as Habutai silk and are supplied by ROISIN CROSS SILKS.
SILK PAINTED SCREENS The hand painted silk screens, were designed by staff and patients to provide a partition for the Aromatherapy room. The screens were created with a view to providing a calm and colourful focus for the room. The silks used are Jap silks otherwise known as Habutai silk and are supplied by ROISIN CROSS SILKS."
