Description Sewing can help children learn educational values like identifying shapes and sizes, learning more about colours and shapes all while having enormous fun! These courses are aimed at 8 year olds and over, and are set in a safe small class environment. By learning the basic sewing skills, children can build their imagination; they can express themselves creatively and achieve the sense of accomplishment.
Once they are shown how, they have a skill for life….not to mention savings on clothes in the short term!
Course layout
• Day 1 & 2 All students will be introduced to the workings of a sewing machine. We will start a small design project to learn the basic stitches (pin cushion). They will be set a small design project to begin (asked to use there imaginations to design a scarf). They will learn to translate their design ideas into a pattern. Shown how to prepare fabric for cutting and prepare the piece for sewing. We will then sew on the machine. With the finished project they created we will then show students how to embellish their piece to create something uniquely theirs.
• Day 3 & 4 With the skills learned on days 1 and2 we will set a new project (possible a small bag). The idea being that they will build up their confidence on the machine and with their designs.
Fee €150.00 - 165.00. This is inclusive of all materials used.
